Case study: NHS Community Pharmacy Blood Pressure Check Service

As part of the NHSEI activity to support the International Society for Hypertension’s May Measurement Month campaign, to raise awareness of the risks of high blood pressure, a new case study on the NHS Community Pharmacy Blood Pressure Check Service at Ropharm Pharmacy in Newham, East London, is now available to read.

The case study sets out the benefits to patients of the service and explains how people with previously undetected high blood pressure have been identified and referred for treatment by the pharmacy team, working together with their local practices. It also includes hints and tips on how to successfully operate the service and how to encourage people aged 40 and over to get their blood pressure checked in a community pharmacy to prevent heart attacks and stroke.
