Cancelled – Patient Safety Event – North Devon

Cancelled – Patient Safety Event – North Devon

October 4, 2017

Due to ill health, regrettably the event has had to be cancelled, but will be rescheduled in the new year.

Devon LPC has used the introduction of the patient safety report into the community pharmacy contract as an opportunity to bring community pharmacy teams and wider groups of healthcare professionals and stakeholders together.  The aim is to build relationships, foster a culture of patient safety in daily practice by sharing learnings and examples of best practice; and to support the quality payments scheme criteria of writing a patient safety report.

Our first patient safety pilot event was trialled in Plymouth, with both community and primary care pharmacists in attendance (as well as representatives from NEW Devon CCG and the Academic Health Sciences Network), discussing case studies from the differing perspectives represented at the event, as well as sharing points of best practice.

The evening was a great success and leads us on to our next, which is scheduled for October 17th 2017  in Barnstaple. Our ambition is to widen the circle of participants once again, this time including hospital pharmacy teams to share learnings and insights from secondary care.

The ultimate ambition of such events is to share best practice, provide an opportunity for building relationships and to foster a culture of patient safety in daily practice. Our goal is to help facilitate the ongoing nature of these discussions through a virtual network, specific to local geographies, to provide a forum to continue to share best practice and learnings. We invite you to join us on our patient safety journey together as the events continue to be rolled out across the county.
