Community Pharmacy Quality Scheme 2018-19

Community Pharmacy Quality Scheme 2018-19

October 18, 2018

As you will be aware just recently a new Quality Payments scheme, with different gateway criteria and new quality points, has been announced with a review date set for February 15th 2019.

There are some key changes to both the gateway and quality criteria.  We are pleased to see that the Healthy Living Pharmacy has been retained, with an additional public health capability requirement for the pharmacy team to have completed child oral health training in advance of a planned health campaign on this important topic in 2019.  In addition there is a greater focus on patient safety including  incident reporting, risk management and an NSAID and gastro-protection audit.  Also included is an additional element in the clinical effectiveness criteria linked to the provision of a spacer device for all children aged 5-15 years prescribed an inhaled corticosteroid.

Pharmacy Complete has produced a useful tool outlining the updated Quality Payments Scheme and have given us permission to share it, follow the link https://pharmacycomplete.org/quality-payment-scheme-2018-19/ or take a look on our Quality Payments Scheme page.

CPPE has published a guidance document on the targeted training requirements which also includes information on how non-registered GPhC staff can access appropriate training.
