Healthy Conversation Skills: Making Every Contact Count

Healthy Conversation Skills: Making Every Contact Count is training that focusses on how to make the most of day to day opportunities to influence the health and wellbeing of people we come into contact with. We all know that telling people what to do is not the most effective way of helping them change. But by empowering people to make small changes to their lifestyles it is possible to have short conversations that prevent ill health, improve wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.
At the end of this session, you will be able to
- identify opportunities to have a short and impromptu “healthy conversation”
- use appropriate listening skills and questioning techniques
- use evidence-based strategies that facilitate lifestyle behaviour change in the people you come into contact with.
If you are a HLP Health Champion or working towards HLP accreditation, this is an ideal opportunity for you to meet the criteria or refresh your skills.
