In May and June 2014 Healthy Living Pharmacies in Plymouth will be piloting an NMS – mental health intervention for patients starting antidepressants. To support this, and to help pharmacy staff deliver other quality mental health services such as MURs, the LPC are hosting a Mental health training evening on 28th April at The Copthorne Hotel, Plymouth. This exciting event will be hosted by a number of professionals from Plymouth MIND, Plymouth Community healthcare, Devon partnership Trust and NEW Devon CCG and include workshops on:-
Review of common mental health medications
Providing support for patients coming off long-term antidepressants
Services on offer from Plymouth Community Healthcare to support good Mental Health and wellbeing (CLANG)
What is “Recovery” and how can MIND support people in achieving this?
Why is it important to have a New Medicine Service for patients starting antidepressants? A review of the new Plymouth HLP NMS-mental health intervention.
Booking details to follow. We are also asking pharmacists who want to deliver this service (mandatory requirement) to complete the following short CPPE e-learning lecture prior to the event:
CPPE 1 hour training course (41988) “The management of depression in the community pharmacy”.
We would also encourage Healthy Living Champions and other pharmacy staff to complete this.
Pharmacy professionals could consider completing the depression week of the CPPE mental health e-course. This is an 8 week course consisting of 4-5 hours of learning on a selected mental health topic each week. You can choose to enrol for the course when it is running live with support from a tutor, topic expert and live discussion groups with other participants (next course starts 12th January 2015) or at any other time on your own. You could select to do the whole course or just the depression week – it’s up to you. Find out more and sign up at: www.bit.ly/CPPEecoursemh
